The a cappella group, InPulse, will perform their special holiday show in the Lauridsen Performing Arts Theatre of the Pearson Lakes Art Center at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9.

The group has Minnesota roots and is known for creating a sound that features solos, harmonic blend and driving rhythms. Their performances draw from virtually every genre of music -- from pop to rock, country to hip-hop, and jazz to R&B. InPulse plays an active part in the evolution of a cappella music through original compositions and arrangements.

The a cappella group has taken the stage of many performing arts centers and college venues throughout the United States.

Having trained at St. Olaf College and Concordia College, the group has won numerous awards. Within six months as a professional ensemble, InPulse was named grand champion of the 2004 Rocky Mountain Harmony Sweepstakes in Denver, where they also won awards for Best Soloist (Matt McDonald) and Best Original Song ("Obsession" by Marcus Hanson).

The band took runner-up honors at the 2004 International Harmony Sweepstakes Finals in San Rafael, Calif., again winning Best Original Song. InPulse was recently selected for Mainstage Showcases at the 2007 National Association of Campus Activities (NACA) and Association for Promotion of Campus Activities (APCA) National Conferences in Nashville and Atlanta respectively. InPulse was awarded runner-up for "2007 Band of the Year" by Campus Activities Magazine, making them a sought-after act on the college market.

InPulse has sold over 25,000 copies of their recordings including debut album "Alone and Above" and holiday album, "Shed a Little Light."

Both albums were awarded nominations for album of the year by the Contemporary A Cappella Society of America. The band recently released its third album, "InPulse: Live," in December of 2006.

Tickets are now available for this a cappella group's holiday show. Tickets are $20 members, $24 non-members and $12 for students - and are available by calling (712) 332-7013 or by visiting www.lakesart.org. For more information on the group, visit www.inpmusic.com.
