Services were held Saturday for a driver involved in a fatal collision Tuesday, Feb. 23, in Spencer.

A report from the Spencer Police Department said 29-year-old Jacob Ralph of Milford was heading south on Highway Boulevard, in the north part of the city, when officers think he lost control of his vehicle, crossed the center line and stuck an oncoming vehicle driven by 31-year-old Kevin Schley, also of Milford.

Both men were taken to the Spencer Hospital by ambulance. Ralph later died as a result of his injuries; Schley was treated and released.

Ralph was a Korean-born Iowa Lakes Community College graduate and restaurant shift manager who was suffering from an irreversible kidney disease, according to information supplied by the family. He was undergoing dialysis and waiting to be on a transplant list at the time of the accident.

He found enjoyment in cooking, bowling and golfing. He also enjoyed family, friends and watching sports on television.

It was determined that Ralph was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. Spencer police say the collision remains under investigation.

Information from the Spencer Daily Reporter was used in this report.
