On Friday, Feb. 19 Spirit Lake Police initiated a traffic stop on a Black GMC Sonoma. The vehicle was driven by 37-year-old, Timothy Mowery of Spirit Lake. Upon further investigation, it was determined that Mowery was intoxicated and subsequently placed under arrest for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. Drug paraphernalia was found on Mowery's person. Mowery was transported and booked into the Dickinson County Jail. Mowery is charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, second offense, and aggravated misdemeanor; possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor; and failure to maintain a safety belt, a simple misdemeanor.

On Saturday, Feb. 20 at approximately 3:16 p.m., the Spirit Lake Police Department conducted a routine traffic stop on a green Chevy Blazer. The Blazer was driven by 52-year-old Daniel Dean Inbody of Spirit Lake. Also in the vehicle was a passenger, Darline Compere of Sioux Falls, S.D. Upon further investigation, the Spirit Lake Police Department K9, "Zeke," conducted a sniff of the air around the vehicle. Located inside the vehicle was a green leafy substance alleged to be marijuana and items of drug paraphernalia. Inbody was issued a citation for the traffic violation and released. Compere was arrested and booked into the Dickinson County Jail on the following charges; possession of a controlled substance, marijuana, a serious misdemeanor; and possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor.

On Sunday, Feb. 21, at approximately 10:18 p.m., the Spirit Lake Police Department was dispatched to a disturbance on the 1500 block of Jackson Ave. On further investigation, 36-year-old Tanya Jean Helmick of Estherville, was arrested for illegal possession of prescription drugs and public intoxication. Halmick was booked into the Dickinson County Jail on charges of possession of prescription drugs, a serious misdemeanor and public intoxication, a simple misdemeanor.

Criminal charges are merely an accusation and the defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
