Wanda Keena age 86, of Mitchell, S.D., died Tuesday Jan. 26, 2010 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Will Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Will Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at the American Legion Cemetery.
Wanda Zenor, daughter of Elmer and Birdie (Johnson) Zenor, was born Aug. 28, 1923 in Terril. She grew up and received her education in Terril, graduating from Terril High School. After her schooling Wanda moved to Elkhart, Ind., and was employed in a defense plant. She then moved to Sioux Falls, S.D., and was employed at a cookie factory.
Wanda was united in marriage with Joseph Keena on Jan. 4, 1947, in LuVerne, Minn. The couple made their home in Sioux Falls and then moved to Mitchell in 1960. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and wife. Wanda made her home at Greenridge Apartments.
She enjoyed baking, cooking and sewing in earlier years.
Grateful for having shared her life are her four children, Jan (Chuck) Lauritsen, Mitchell, S.D., Jackie (Jerry) Renken, Mt. Vernon, S.D., Michael (Barb) Keena, Mitchell, S.D., Connie (Jack) Easton, Fulton, S.D.; a son-in-law, Ken Murphy, Sioux Falls, S.D.; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; four great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Keena on June 23, 1988; a daughter, Mary Murphy; two grandson; her parents; a sister, Imogene Gardener; and brother, Alfred.
