Funeral services were recently held for Nancy Blevins, 52, of Ida Grove who passed away Saturday Jan. 23, 2010 at St. Lukes Regional Medical Center in Sioux City following a battle with cancer.
Born, June 12, 1957, in Newton, Nancy Jean Blevins was the daughter of Louis and Lucille (Meyer) Rettinghaus. She grew up in Arnolds Park where she received her education, graduating with the Class of 1975. Nancy then attended modeling school in Omaha, Neb.
She was united in marriage to James L. McMains in 1977 and was blessed with a daughter, Jennifer. The couple later divorced.
In 1987, Nancy married William Arthur. They had one daughter, Angie. Bill passed away in 1993.
Nancy worked for various companies over the years. Most recently, she worked at Pure Fishing in Spirit Lake. Her hobbies included playing bingo, camping and bargain hunting at garage sales. She loved Elvis, Indians and tigers, but her greatest joy came from spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Jennifer and Jeremy Bainbridge and Angie and Jace Horsley all of Odebolt; and four grandchildren, Mercedes and Sebastian Bainbridge and Mackenzie and Alexandria Horsley. She is also survived by a brother Robert (Toyea) Rettinghaus of Missouri, three sisters, Shirley Kirkpatrick of Arkansas, Linda (Gary) Rost of Lake Park, and Janice Clipperton of Spirit Lake as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
In addition to her second husband, Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister, Beverly Rettinghaus and two brothers, Ronald and Richard Rettinghaus.v
