A memorial service was held at Union Memorial Church on Monday, Jan. 25, for June L. Chaffin of Milford. June died Wednesday, January 20, 2010, at her home in Milford, at the age of 87.
The Revs. Karl and Jan Whiteman officiated. Interment was at Milford Cemetery in Milford.
June L. Chaffin was born to Harry Glen England and Eva Elva (Adams) England, June 13, 1922 in Spencer. She attended school in Spencer, graduating from high school there in 1941.
On Feb.13, 1942, June married Bill Chaffin in Tacoma, Wash., where Bill was stationed in the Army. Returning to Milford, they made their home on a farm southwest of Milford where they raised their three children; Joe, Kathy and Don. In 2000, they moved into Milford.
As a member of Union Memorial Church, she was active in many activities. She was an accomplished artist sharing many beautiful paintings with family and friends. June, when in good health, always had an art project she was working on.
June was a longtime homemaker, and especially enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes, loved playing cards, had a great love of fishing and most importantly, spending time with her family. She was noted for Grandma's famous chocolate oatmeal cookies.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Eva Adams Carr, son, Joe, daughter, Kathy and two sisters, Irma Laurenson and Anetha Bailey.
Surviving are her husband of 67 years, Bill; son, Don and his wife Verona, of Milford and their children, Christy (Dave) Hoffman, Sioux Falls, S.D., Jason (Brandy) Chaffin, Spencer, Jon Chaffin, Plymouth, Minn., and Kim Chaffin, Denver, Colo.; daughter-in-law, JoAnn Chaffin, Milford and her children, Jill (Bob) Krebs, Okoboji, Beth (Bryan) McCabe, Milford, Dave (Liz) Chaffin, St. Louis, Mo. and Sarah (Ryan) Lau, Indianapolis, Ind.; and eight great-grandchildren, Alex, Tyler and Jackson Krebs, Bryson and Brenna McCabe, Cameron and Aiden Chaffin and Rylan Hoffman, as well as other relatives and friends.
