A memorial visitation will be held Friday, Jan. 29, from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Schuchert Funeral Home for Norman C. Boley, age 74, of Spirit Lake, who passed away Thursday, Jan. 21, at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake.

Boley was born on March 2, 1935, in Lexington, Mo., to Delbert and Helen (Hutson) Boley.

Norm's childhood was mostly spent in the Kansas City area. He graduated from William Jewell College in Liberty, Mo., with a B.A. in Sociology. Norm then attended Colgate Rochester Divinity School in Rochester, New York, where he received a Bachelor of Divinity. For 10 years, he served as pastor in churches in the American Baptist Convention.

Norm was united in marriage to Jeanne Miller on Feb. 19, 1972, in Kansas City, Mo. In 1973, the couple moved to the Lakes Area, where Norm became the Executive Director of PLUS Inc. for 25 years. He was a longtime member of Kiwanis. Norm was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and was full of humor, enthusiasm and quiet wisdom. He enjoyed playing the fiddle, banjo, piano, guitar and the harmonica. Norm loved his motorcycle. He was a great fix-it person and enjoyed building. Norm and Jeanne spent many hours canoeing, walking the trails and playing in the garden.

Norm is survived by his wife, Jeanne Boley of Spirit Lake; a daughter, Carrie Boley of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three sons, Wen Boley, and his wife, Rebecca, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Jamie Boley and Meghan Bartos, of Parker, S.D., and Jeremy Boley, and his wife, Mariana, of Warren, Penn.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers.
