Delores "Dee" Osborn

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, at the Memorial Presbyterian Church in Cherokee for Delores "Dee" Osborn, formerly Delores Pedersen, 76, of Spirit Lake, and, formerly of Cherokee who passed away Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010, at The Gardens in Cherokee.

Rev. Ethan Sayler officiated. Burial was at the Woodlawn Cemetery at Alta.

Dee was born March 29, 1933 at Alta to James and Susanna (Sinns) Murphy. She graduated from Webb High School in 1951. She was married to Richard L. Pedersen on September 4, 1955 at Alta. She was later married to Richard S. Osborn on Jan. 17, 1987 in Cherokee. She had worked at North American Rockwell in California from 1952-1954, for the Cherokee Daily Times as office manager from 1955 until 1987 and for Hempel Sheet Metal in Omaha, Neb., from 1987 until retiring in 1998. She was affiliated with the Memorial Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, bowling leagues in Cherokee and Storm Lake, and various Church Bible Study Groups. She enjoyed ceramic painting, crocheting, knitting, cross-stitch, jigsaw puzzles, reading and playing Bingo.

She was preceded in death by: her father, James Murphy; mother, Susanna Murphy-Mitchell; a son, Brian Pedersen; a great-granddaughter, Ella Cannaday; sisters, Darlene Willems and Donnabel Murphy; and a brother Ronnie Murphy.

She is survived by her husband, Richard, and children: Brenda (Don) Haack of Sutherland; Bradley (Cindy) Pedersen of Alta; Todd (Julisa) Pedersen of McAllen, Texas; Scott Osborn (Marla Conley) of Cherokee; Mike (Cindy) Osborn of Council Bluffs; Kathy Van Voltenberg (Sandy Andrews) of Council Bluffs; Jeff (June) Osborn of Council Bluffs; 21 grandchildren; sevevn great-grandchildren; stepfather Hank Mitchell of Storm Lake; Brother-in-law Vern Willems, of Storm Lake; Sister-in-law Connie Stille, of Storm Lake; and an aunt Evelyn North of Storm Lake.
