'Adopt-a-Family' thanks

Wednesday, January 13, 2010
Another Christmas and another Adopt a Family has come and gone. It may sound like a cliché, but through the years I have learned that this program is as beneficial for those who give as for those who receive. Anyone coming to our office in December can readily ascertain how very frazzled, frustrated and exhausted we can get, but let me share with you part of a lovely thank you letter I received last year that will inspire me for many years to come:

"I actually thought it was going to be a solemn Christmas. You showed me the love of friends at Christmas. I feel bad that I can't do much except for a thank you. It doesn't seem enough. I'm sorry. God bless you."

Well, God bless every individual, organization, church, family, news organization, business, school and my wonderful staff and volunteers who made the Adopt a Family program possible again. It is a genuine community effort that truly embodies the Christmas spirit.

We invite you to continue the spirit of Christmas throughout the year by serving others with us or in whatever way you choose. Feels good, doesn't it?
