Funeral services were held Dec. 4 at the Turner Funeral Home in Milford for Winona C. Recher, 89, of Okoboji who passed away Nov. 19 at Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake.

Rev. Sarah Rohret officiated and burial was at the Lakeview Gardens Cemetery near Okoboji.

Winona C. Recher was born to Arthur and Stella Olson at Greenville on Dec. 8, 1919. In 1937 she married Charles Akins and to this union one daughter, Nancy Louise was born.

In 1958 Winona and Harold Recher were married in Jackson, Minn. Harold and Winona lived in Okoboji most of their married life. Winona worked many years at the Dickinson County Hospital. After her retirement from the hospital she worked at the school in Spirit Lake.

She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Arnolds Park. She enjoyed helping with the many church activities. She also enjoyed cooking, especially baking bread, gardening, canning, going to and having garage sales; and just spending time with Harold.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Backer and her husband, Bill, stepdaughters, Lois Jacobsen and Lola Recher; granddaughter, Lisa James; two great granddaughters, one great great grandson, two step grandchildren, Heath Jacobsen and Heather Sweet, and four great step grandchildren.

Winona was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, brothers, Donald, Clifford and Rasey, sisters, Ruth, Lucille, Dorothy, Leota, and Bernice, and three grandsons, Michael, Shane and Shawn.

Turner Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
