Two Spirit Lake teens arrested for theft, public intoxication

On Tuesday, Nov. 3 at approximately 12:57 a.m., Spirit Lake Police were advised of a theft that had just occurred at Hy-Vee in Spirit Lake. Officers were advised that two young males left the store with two cases of beer without paying for them.

A search warrant for the individuals ensued. The two subjects were soon located hiding a few blocks away. After a foot pursuit, the officers apprehended the subjects without incident. The two young men were identified as Shaun Michael Fox, age 18, and Joshua Robert Currier, age 18, both of Spirit Lake.

After an investigation, Fox and Currier were arrested and booked into the Dickinson County Jail. Both Fox and Currier were charged with fifth degree theft, a simple misdemeanor; public intoxication, a simple misdemeanor; interference with official acts, a simple misdemeanor; possession under legal age, a simple misdemeanor and littering, a simple misdemeanor.

The Spirit Lake Police Department was assisted by the DIckinson County Sheriff's Office and the Okoboji Police Department.

It should be noted that a criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
