Thompson arrested on drug charges

On Monday, Oct. 19, at approximately 11:50 p.m., the Spirit Lake Police Department made a routine traffic stop on a maroon 1987 Pontiac Fiero. The Fiero was driven by 20-year-old Kelly Thompson, Jr. of Spirit Lake, and upon further investigation and search of the vehicle, a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana and drug paraphernalia were located inside the vehicle.

Further investigation led to the search of the residence at 606 Lake Street Apt. #6 in Spirit Lake. Located in the residence was a green leafy substance to believed to be marijuana along with numerous items of drug paraphernalia.

Thompson was arrested and booked into the Dickinson County jail on the following charges: possession of a controlled substance, marijuana 1st offense, a serious misdemeanor; possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor; failure to obey stop sign, a simple misdemeanor; failure to maintain license plate, a simple misdemeanor; and operation without registration, a simple misdemeanor.

It should be noted a criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.

Spirit Lake arrests

Adam Robards, 23, of Milford, was arrested for public intoxication and trespassing at 2:46 a.m. Sept. 29.

Scott Allen, 31, of Spirit Lake was arrest for OWI, first offense, and cited for failure to display front license plate at 1:13 a.m. Sept. 30.

Amanda Whalen, 27, of Okoboji was arrested for driving while barred at 2:04 p.m. Oct. 1.

Patricia Weltzin, 44, of Lake Park, was arrested for assault on a police officer and cited for interference with official acts at 4:05 a.m. Oct. 3.

James Geelen, 18, of Spirit Lake was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance and keeping a disorderly house at 10:22 p.m. Oct. 7.

Collin Hackett, 18, of Spirit Lake, was arrested for keeping a disorderly house, a simple misdemeanor,possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia at 10:22 p.m. Oct. 7.

Marcus Siemers, 20, was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance and keeping a disorderly house at 10:22 p.m. Oct. 7.

Jesse Knaack, 20, of Spirit Lake, was charged with violation of no contact order at 7 p.m. Oct. 8.

Michael Demma, 44, of Spirit Lake was arrested for operating without a driver's license at 3:15 p.m. Oct. 9.

Veronica Newbrough, 25, was arrested for OWI, second offense, and cited for no insurance and improper headlights at 2:06 a.m. Oct. 10.

Jamie Draper, 33, of Cherokee was charged with public intoxication at 3:15 a.m. Oct. 10.

Bobbie Flaherty, 21, of Milford was arrested for driving while suspended, warrants and cited for driving without insurance, speeding and unlawful use of driver's license at 2 p.m. Oct. 11.

Nicholas Martini, 30, of Spirit Lake, was arrested for OWI, third offense, and cited for failure to obey traffic device and driving without a license at 9:25 p.m. Oct. 13.

Kirk Crosby, 37, of Spirit Lake was arrested for violation of no contact order at 2 p.m. Oct. 16.

Thomas Ruble, 64, of Spirit Lake was charged with theft, fifth degree, at 2 p.m. Oct. 16.

Janelle Erickson, 49, of Spirit Lake was arrested for public intoxication and cited for interference with official acts at 2:09 a.m. Oct. 17.

Raymond Payne, 36, of Lakefield, Minn., was arrested for OWI and cited for expired driver's license and no insurance at 2:07 a.m. Oct. 18.
