Concern for our local land

Wednesday, October 7, 2009

Did anyone watch the IPTV special about the National Parks? Did you feel the same concern for our local land as our forefathers did when they feared the loss of the irreplaceable National Parks?

Every time I hear the developers' plans to help our economy by developing the beautiful rolling pasture in the oak trees across from the Art Center and other sites, I know how those who feared for the National Parks felt.

The struggle between commercialization and preserving our rich heritage is the same here with our beaches, lakes, fish, swamps and oak trees. How much have we already lost in the name of progress?

I live here year round and I do not need a Target, more banks, bars, restaurants, golf courses, condos or new homes. Neither does our environment.
