School board election scheduled for Sept. 8

Wednesday, September 2, 2009
School board elections are scheduled for next Tuesday, Sept. 8. Polls will be open from noon to 8 p.m. at voting precincts throughout Dickinson County.

In all four school districts covered by the Dickinson County News, current incumbents have filed to keep their seats. Nomination papers were due at the county auditor's office by 5 p.m. July 31. The races are all uncontested, unless write-in candidates emerge this month.

In Harris-Lake Park, Mike Bosma and Arthur Schumacher have filed to keep their school board positions. Okoboji's incumbents Laurie Simington and Dee Wermersen filed for the two available positions, and Spirit Lake's Todd Hummell and Scott Wicks have filed papers to continue serving on Spirit Lake's School Board. In Terril, the three incumbents Eugene Buhr, Chelle Cisenius and Tim Roth hope to keep their seats.

The lone contested race in Dickinson County is for Iowa Lakes Community College District 3 Trustee where Mike Prior is challenging incumbent Jack Tatman.
