Kansas woman arrested for drugs, OWI

On Friday, Aug. 7 at approximately 2:43 a.m., Spirit Lake Police stopped a 1998 Acura Integra on Highway 9 for a traffic violation. After an investigation, it was determined the driver Elizabeth Jane Abbey of Prairie Village,Kan. was operating while intoxicated.

Abbey was place under arrest. A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Abbey was transported to the Dickinson County Jail to appear before a judge. She was booked on the following charges: OWI - first offense, a serious misdemeanor; possession of a controlled substance to wit - marijuana, a serious misdemeanor; possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor; improper registration plate lamp, a simple misdemeanor and no insurance, a simple misdemeanor.

The defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.


Car vs. semi collision sends two to hospital

On Aug. 3 at approximately 1:52 p.m. the Dickinson County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to the scene of a motor vehicle accident in the 1000 block of U.S. Highway 71. Jeremy Clark, 20, of Dunnell, Minn. was operating a 1995 Chrysler Lebaron that was southbound on Highway 71.

He was operating in the oncoming lane of traffic and collided with a 2003 Freightliner Semi-

Tractor that was driven by Daryl Schubert, 43, of Estherville. Schubert took evasive action to avoid a head on collision.

Damage to the Clark vehicle was estimated at $ 3,000 and damage to the semi-tractor

operated by Shubert was estimated at $30,000.

Clark and his passenger, Alisha Brower of Dunnell, Minn., were transported by to Lakes

Regional Healthcare by ambulance for treatment of injuries. Clark was cited for no driver's

license and operating on the wrong side of a roadway.

The Dickinson County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Spirit Lake Police Department, Spirit Lake and Superior Fire Departments and Lakes Regional Healthcare Ambulance.

Estherville man arrested on drug charges

On Friday, Aug. 7 at approximately 6:40 p.m., Spirit Lake Police stopped a 1997 Buick Century driven by 19-year-old Joshua Steven Lundgren of Estherville for a traffic violation.

Officers detected the odor of burnt marijuana coming from inside the vehicle and a subsequent search led to the discovery of a green, leafy substance to wit: marijuana and several items of drug paraphernalia. Lundgren was placed under arrest and was transported to the Dickinson County Jail to appear before a judge.

Lundgren was booked for possession of a controlled substance - a serious misdemeanor - and possession of drug paraphernalia - a simple misdemeanor.


Spirit Lake arrests:

- Racheal Danea Price, 22, of Spirit Lake was arrested for driving under suspension and no insurance at 2:42 p.m. July 30.

- Nicholas Eugene Martini, 30, of Spirit Lake was arrested for domestic abuse/assault and obstruction of emergency communication at 8:03 a.m. July 31.

It should be noted a criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.
