David L. Gossman

Funeral services were held July 31 at the Schuchert Funeral Home in Spirit Lake for David L. Gossman, 68, of Spirit Lake, who passed away Sunday, July 26, 2009, at Avera-McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.

David was born on June 29, 1941, in Cedar Rapids, to James and Mary Lou (Denkman) Gossman.

David graduated from Spencer High School in 1959. He served his country in the United States Air Force for eight years, serving four years in Germany, and four years in California. David spent all of his free time thinking of different ways to invent things. He designed and sold frames for Chopper motorcycles, designed a robot that was bought by NASA and patented the "Ulti-mate" Cue Tip Tool for billiards, that is sold all over the world. David enjoyed playing pool and watching NASCAR.

David is survived by two children, Tamy Gossman of Milford, and Tony Gossman, and his wife, Connie, of Milford; his significant other, Cindy Schubert of Spirit Lake; seven grandchildren, Samuel, Star, Brian, Michal, James, Nate and Amanda; four great-grandchildren, Alexis, Sarah, Savanah and Hailey; a sister, Sharon Longley, and her husband, Jack, of Tucson, Ariz.; a niece; and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his grandparents.
