Richard B. "Red" Griffith

Services were held recently for Richard B. "Red" Griffith, who passed away April 21, 2009 in Mesa, Ariz.

Richard was born Aug. 27, 1928 in Coon Rapids to Claude "Rusty" and Asta (Bak) Griffith. He attended high school in Spirit Lake, excelling in sports and was the captain of the track team his senior year in 1947.

He served his country honorably for 24 years - four years in the U.S. Coast Guard and 20 years in the U.S. Air Force.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife Charlotte, two stepdaughters Susie Smith and her husband Mike and Diane Hoff and her husband Joe; a sister Jerrie McKinney and her husband Don; nieces, nephews and many cousins and friends.
