Cheryl Serck

Funeral services were held May 14 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Spirit Lake for Cheryl Serck, 60, of Spirit Lake, who passed away Sunday, May 10, 2009, in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Interment was at St. Margaret's Cemetery.

Cheryl was born on Oct. 9, 1948, in Jackson, Minn., to Clarence and Irene (Mier) Thiesen.

Cheryl graduated from Sioux Valley High School. She was a past member and leader of 4-H and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. Cheryl enjoyed spending her spare time reading, traveling, shopping and helping with the Okoboji Summer Theater. Her true passion in life was the time she would spend with her family and her grandchildren.

Cheryl is survived by her two daughters, Sheila Pirela and her husband Jesus of Houston, Texas, and Amy Serck of Houston, Texas; a son, Paul Serck and his wife Ricci of Indianola; a brother, Leland Thiesen and his wife Judy of Windom, Minn.; and three grandchildren, Nicholas Serck, Adam Serck and William Pirela. She is preceded in death by her parents; and her grandmother, Lena Mier.
