Okoboji voters approve revenue purpose statement (Local News ~ 04/02/14)
Okoboji's school board and administrators got the feedback they were looking for from local residents Tuesday night. Voters in the Okoboji School District approved a ballot question that outlined plans for Okoboji's sale tax revenue through the year 2029. The public measure received 69 "yes" votes and 9 "no" votes for 88.5 percent support. The previous purpose statement was set to expire in 2019... -

On behalf of the American Red Cross, we wish to thank all the blood donors who so generously donated at our blood drive in March. Some individuals deserve special honors, i.e. Eugene Fales earned his 15 gallon pin, Jon Davis earned his first gallon pin and JoLynn Harms earned her 11 gallon pin at the January drive. Congratulations to each of you! We are very happy to say welcome to our first donors ... Ryan Petrevich, Mike Niemeier and and Jayme Harrington...

Add this to the list of constantly-evolving, contradictory and confusing studies on what we should and shouldn't eat. A recent study by USC Davis claims high protein diets, particularly protein diets rich with meats and cheeses, aren't good for us middle-aged folks. Yet kids and those over the age of 65 need to ramp up their protein intake from meats and cheeses. As if getting my brand-new AARP card in the mail this year isn't difficult enough to wrap my head around .....
