Highway 86 trail construction ahead of schedule (09/16/09)
Construction for the Dickinson County Trails system along Highway 86 is well under way and may be completed as soon as Oct. 6, according Steve Litts, Executive Director of the Dickinson County Trails Board. "The weather's been good, which has put construction ahead of schedule," he said. "They were given 10 days on the first tunnel and got it completed in less time."
Lake Park fire destroys warehouse (09/16/09)
Six area fire departments joined forces last week to battle a blaze in Lake Park. According to Lake Park Fire Chief Brandon Ehret, the department was called to ARCO Dehydrating at 6:14 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 9. The plant is located at 12 South 3rd Street in Lake Park.

I was surprised to learn that the Arnolds Park Amusement Park hired over 20 people from Russia, Turkey, Bulgaria and other European countries to work this summer at the amusement park. Kentucky Fried Chicken also hires Europeans.

I was mildly amused that the Spencer Hospital is holding courses to help those addicted to smoking "get off their butts" so to speak. While I applaud their efforts and sincerely hope that they do well, I can't help but snicker a bit.
