He was born on Sept. 7, 1945, in Cleveland, Ohio, to William and Miriam (Laakso) Wirtanen.

He was born on Nov. 16, 1934, in Fulton, Mich., to Charles and Nina Jenkins.

Brownlee, 82, who passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Sept. 9, 2009 after battling declining health in recent years. He passed in the comforting surroundings of his Emmetsburg home, with his family at his bedside.
