Homecoming festivities at Spirit Lake High School were a little different this year, but just as colorful. With the COVID-19 pandemic still on, the homecoming court was crowned outside Friday afternoon on Hafer Field. Community members were soon setting up their chairs along Hill Avenue to see the district's homecoming parade at 2:30 p.m. the same day, and students at Spirit Lake followed their teachers outdoors to find a curbside seat from which to cheer. Spirit Lake's homecoming dance, however, was cancelled this year.
