The 2018 University of Okoboji Oktoberfest celebration maintained its traditional 24-mile bicycle ride, and added a few reasons to put the kickstand down for a spell. Under the guidance of the Iowa Great Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce, the start and finish line for the race were in Preservation Plaza near Arnolds Park Amusement Park. The chamber decided to take full advantage of the finish line's location and lined up Illinois-based polka band Tony Blazonczyk's New Phaze to provide some appropriate tunes after the race. In addition to the food and drink planned in the Green Space, the public had plenty to do, such as a beanbag tournament, a life-size pong competition, painting sessions with instructors from Creative Spirits and more. Outside of the park area, several businesses offered food and drink deals to anyone wearing an Oktoberfest wristband. The bands replaced the mugs used in previous years. The official activities ended with a special voyage of the Queen II on West Lake Okoboji.
