Riders mounted upon what they refer to as "ancient iron" roared through the Lakes Area Friday afternoon on their way to complete the 2018 Motorcycle Cannonball Run. More than 100 riders from six different countries signed up to weave their way across the nation from Portland, Maine, to Portland, Oregon. The group stopped at the Spirit Lake Polaris Indian plant as part of the run, but the ride isn't focused on cycles with sleek lines and modern materials. The coast-to-coast ride is meant to keep vintage motorcycles in use and on the open road. No motorcycle produced after 1929 is allowed to compete in the race.
