University of Okoboji Triathlon 2018

The University of Okoboji hosted its annual homecoming celebration this past weekend. More than 700 endurance athletes converged on the Iowa Great Lakes to compete in several events. Milford's Taylor Huseman, 25, won the overall triathlon for the fourth straight year, finishing in 1 hour, 21 minutes and 51.82 seconds. Paige Foster of St. Paul, Minnesota, turned in the women's best time in the triathlon at 1 hour, 45 minutes and 13.05 seconds. Greg Desautel of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, outpaced runners half his age to win the marathon. The 52-year old turned in a time of 3:01:51.39. The women's marathon winner was Katie Kramer, 38, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma with a time of 3:26:39.49. Half-marathon winners were Jason Thomas, 23, of Des Moines (1:13:42.38) and Jennifer Vande Vegte, 40, of Sioux Center (1:27:52.12). Brant Haase of Lemmon, South Dakota and Alissa Van Middledorp of Spirit Lake won the 10K run. Olivia Huseman, Magan Christopherson, Lexi Duffy teamed up for Boji XC Tri's Hard to win the triathlon relay in a time of 1:36:43.27.
