John 1:1 says, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God".
God spoke the world into existence, as we go into the first chapter of Genesis: In the beginning, God created the heaven and earth. And the earth was without form and void and there was darkness upon the face of the deep,
Keep on reading in the first chapter and it tells how God spoke everything into existence.
What are your words saying about you? Are they speaking life, or are they speaking death? Are your words speaking blessing or cursing? When you get up in the morning and look in the mirror, do you say "Good morning, Lord. This is the day you have made" or do you say, "O Lord, it's another morning?"
How do you speak to your spouse? Do you tell your spouse that you love her and she is the best thing that ever happened to you. How about your children? Do you let them know they are loved? Do you find time to have family time or are you so busy with your work and your hobbies that your family comes third or fourth or fifth in your life?
Jesus spoke the Word to his disciples. Only once is it recorded in the gospels did he get angry, and that was when he chased out the money changers in the temple.
He told Lazarus to come out of the tomb. If he would have said "come out," all the dead people would have come out.
I am going to take a little side trip here and give you two different scenarios.
1. The boss comes in and says to the man, "Are you an idiot? Didn't you do your homework? We lost this contract. You are fired. Get out of here, I don't want to see you again."
Man goes home, his wife asks him how his day was. He angrily says, "Because I had to do family night with you guys, I didn't get the contract right so I was fired." He looks at his supper and says, "Are we having this again?" Wife starts in crying, turns to the kids and says, "If you can't quit fighting, you can go to your room without supper."
The children leave the table, and kick the dog on the way to their room. Have you ever had a situation like that?
2. Boss comes in and says to the salesman, "You did a super job, we landed that big contract. Thanks to your hard work. Tell your family I appreciate them supporting you and allowing you the time to get the contract finished. I am not only giving you a raise but also two weeks vacation for the whole family to go wherever you choose. I will pay for it all." Man goes home, gives his wife a big kiss and tells the family he won the contract for the company so the boss gave him and his family two weeks vacation all expenses paid. He looks at the supper and says to his wife, "This sure looks good."(It was the same thing they had last night). The whole family is so happy and the dog even gets extra treats for supper.
Now what was the difference in the two scenarios? The words.
Easter is upon us. Palm Sunday, Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey, and the people were hollering and singing praises to him. Throwing palms in front of him. Less than a week later, the same people were hollering, "Crucify him, crucify him."
As we know, Jesus was crucified, but the third day he went down into hell and took the keys of the kingdom away from satan. Don't you suppose satan never dreamt that Jesus would be the first born again man. Praise God as we celebrate all the blessings God has given us. Read Deuteronomy 28:1-14 for all the blessings God has given us.
Remember death and life, Blessing or cursing is in our tongues.
If you would like to know Jesus, go to Romans 10:9-10 and confess with your mouth, "Lord I ask you for your forgiveness and ask you Lord into my heart to be my Lord and Savior." Go and tell someone, you just got saved.
Happy Easter. Remember God is good all the time.
Have a blessed week.
