Underneath Christmas …
BY REV. CLINT LOVEALL - SPIRIT LAKE FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
Underneath the constant noise of Christmas songs and commercials, may you hear the joyful strain of the angels proclaiming the savior's birth.
Underneath the decorations and lights, may you see the true beauty of a shining star and a simple manger.
Underneath the wrapping paper and boxes, may you find the spectacular gift of love given to all.
Underneath the parties and hectic rush, may you find moments of peace and may it bring peace with others and self.
Underneath the fear of a world filled with uncertainty, apathy, and hate, may you find the gift of courage and the confident assurance of faith.
Underneath trying to please everyone and get it all just right, may you find the freedom of forgiveness and promise of new beginnings.
Underneath the conflicts, disagreements, and arguments about Christmas, may you find truth.
Underneath the empty places at the table and the struggles of grief, may you find a hope that sustains you.
Underneath the painful scars of the past and the deep regrets of old mistakes, may you find a grace that is greater than all of our sins.
Underneath family gatherings and Christmas parties, may you find true community and real relationships.
Underneath church traditions and holiday services, may you find worship that quiets your soul, strengthens your heart, and changes your life.
Underneath Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas, may you find the invitation of the angels to "See this thing that has happened in Bethlehem."
Underneath everything that Christmas is and isn't, may you be found by the Christ.
This Christmas, may you find Jesus.
