Mike and Mindy Spinks came down from their home in Mountain Lake, Minnesota, to spend a week in their camper at Cutty's. They celebrated their 31st wedding anniversary as well as his mother, Suzi Klaasen's birthday (I won't say which one). As you can see by the photo, Mike and Mindy enjoyed participating in the Classic Car Cruise last Saturday evening. They told me they had fun waving at all the spectators along the cruise route. Happy anniversary to Mike and Mindy! A very happy birthday to Suzi, who resides at Pelican Ridge!
Another shout of congratulations goes out to Layton Vick! He is putting on his 150th Flea Market over this holiday weekend. That is a lot of flea markets by anyone's standards.
Terry Klein of Spirit Lake has invited musician friends The Lake Patrol to his house Saturday afternoon (July 4) to play some music together. Jerry Jones, Tim Horsman, Mick Buckley and Terry are inductees into the Iowa Rock 'N Roll Music Association Hall of Fame and really know how to have a good time entertaining. They are going to jam from 2-4 in his driveway for the benefit of all Terry's neighbors and friends. When Terry called to tell me about his party, he asked that those friends who don't live in his neighborhood use the parking lot at Grace Lutheran Church, then walk across to his home on Gary Avenue with their lawn chairs. He also indicated food would be available. Sounds like a fun party.
For the first time in several years, I am going to attend a street dance. The Iowa Rock 'N Roll Music Association had to cancel the weekly Rock the Roof events this summer. They decided to do Live on Lake Street on Friday nights at 7 p.m. in front of the Roof Garden. We can all bring our lawn chairs to sit and/or dance on Lake Street. Jason Walsmith of The Nadas is going to entertain for the first one this Friday evening. A free will donation will be accepted and I am sure Steve Daly will be going around in the crowd selling raffle tickets for the chance to win some holiday weekend spending money.
I was sorry to hear the Dick Bauman Big Band had to postpone their Monday evening concerts at the Pearson Lakes Art Center, scheduled to begin on July 6. They will make a decision later on as to when they might begin their summer series of shows.
Farewell Angelina is the first concert for the summer series at the Pearson Lakes Art Center. They are able to go ahead with this show because they art center staff are planning to hold it outdoors on Tuesday, July 14. I hope the weather cooperates because this will be a highly entertaining show.
If you have a reunion, family party or special event coming up this summer, let me know. Email the information to email@example.com or give me a call at 712-320-2850.
Have a great week and be safe this holiday weekend. We will chat again next week!
