I send out heartiest congratulations to Kirby and Barb Range of Milford on their 60th wedding anniversary! Their kids are hosting a super grand party for them on Saturday, July 25. The open house will run from 4-8 with a "country lunch style" dinner served from 5-7 that evening. The party is at the farm located at 2460 150th Ave. in rural Milford. This couple had worked diligently for many years in community service, making our area a better place in which to raise families and enjoy life. Kirby and Barb do not want any gifts but said they would welcome cards and look forward to seeing all their friends and acquaintances at the party.
On the Fourth of July my family and I sat in Preservation Plaza enjoying the music prior to the fireworks on West Lake Okoboji. We were treated to another spectacular fireworks display before the "big one" started. Nadine and Rick Johnson live near Pillsbury Point in Arnolds Park. They have a huge party each Fourth of July. A gorgeous fireworks display is traditionally a part of their celebration. Genie Reed told me the party was such fun and she had a wonderful time. I want to say thank you to Nadine and Rick. We all really enjoyed your fireworks. Thanks for sharing them with us!
Kudos to The Chamber staff for raising the money and KUOO for coordinating the music to give us once again a fabulous Fourth of July fireworks extravaganza. My weekend guest, a foreign exchange student from France, was very impressed by the sights and sounds ... and the patriotism displayed.
Mary Badham is coming to the Iowa Great Lakes Region! She played Scout in the movie "To Kill A Mockingbird." Even though she was only 10 years old at the time, she was nominated for an Oscar in the Supporting Actress category. Badham will be on the grounds of the Okoboji Summer Theatre Friday, July 24 for the day and evening. I am not quite sure yet just what all is on her schedule. OST is performing that famous American classic story beginning Tuesday of next week. What an exciting opportunity for the Stephens College students to visit with and learn from her! Welcome to Okoboji, Mary!
I am surprised I haven't heard about any large family reunions coming up. Do you know of any? If you are having special guests, class reunions, or other celebrations and events this summer, let me know. We all like to know what is going on and who is coming to visit. My phone number is 712-320-2850 or send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks!
