Westport Rural SchoolPosted Friday, July 17, 2009, at 9:44 AM
The week has been very busy. Tuesday morning the Milford Kiwanis Club held their meeting at Westport Rural School Museum. It was a great time for me to show off our achievements. The school house was moved into Kenue Park in 1996 and since that time we have tried to fill it up with desks, ,pas, etc. and have been very successful. This year I have many new volunteers that help guests. We are open in July and August Tues. Through Sat. fro 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. I have also started to put in some facts and photos of items in the school in the Lakes Shopper thanks to John Adams. I believe it has helped. The school is 112 years old and people love to come in and it brings back huge memories for people who attended rural schools. It is a part of our history and should be preserved. I power washed the decks and when possible will stain them. Place needs painting but need volunteers. |
