TwinsPosted Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at 9:49 AM
We have three sons and seven grandchildren, none of which live here at Okoboji. We say our sons are the three Ms as Randy in Minnesota, Ray in Montana and Carl in Missouri. Each year Randy's kids attend a golf camp here on Emerald Hills Golf course. Tis year only Sonja attened as Ed (Her twin brother) hurt his back but he came anyway. It is a pleasure to have thm for at least a week. They look farward to coming and we stash them in the lower level and don't remark about their untidy beds, etc. Each has their wireless an are contantly texting to their friends. they are 15 and will be 16 in Sept. Last ight we took them to the Okoboji summer Theatre and they enjoyed the play very much. Monday was really warm and Sonja burns eas so she had problems and got a blister on her finger gripping the golf club too tight. Ed hauled many of the kids around and seemed happy to do so.
Right now I am in the process of getting volunteers for the Westport Rural School Musem at Kenue Park. We are open Tues through Sat 10 to 2 each day and hope for many visiters. I also power washed the deck and hope to stain it this week. But who knows?? Wonderful article in the Des Moins register about the walnut candy machine at the Park. Remember watching the old wheel go around and around. My Mother (Jean) loved that candy and I do too. It has been in the same family since WWI. Traditions-traditions are a constant at Okoboji. Need so subject to write about for the DC News. Any suggestions from you readers??? Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |

I always enjoy your stories. How about an article about the history of the streets and roads in the area?
