It is wonderful to return to the Iowa Great Lakes each year. We love the area and the many opportunities the area has. Tuesday was my birthday. My driver's certificate indicates I am 84 years old. 84? I don't know what an 84 year old man is suppose to feel but I don't really feel any older. For my birthday we traveled to Mason City for an eye ex. I have macular degeneration-right eye dry and left eye wet. Wet can be assisted by an injection into the ey with a drug. It has been succesful as the last three ex have had none. Can see well. We drove around Mason City as we taught ther for 25 years. Went by our old home, schools and chruch. Home and church not changed much but school we taught in was torn down and new school building. Ssort of a loss after 25 years. Came home and that evening went to the Okoboji Summer Theatre for play- Alice. It was great but no plot. Six young talented girls sang, danced and showed off their talents. It was great.
Wed. we had lunch with our dear friend Harley and Syrena Whitfield. We have had the privledge of their friendship for over 40 years. Thursday was Swinger Day. (Swingers is a group of golfers who play at Emerald Hills. We played and tht evening all went to the Outrigger Restrauant. It is a very close knit group and we enjoy each other.I am incharge of getting the eating places. I also went up to the Ddickinson County Museum (On the board) and took some photos of various items in the museum. Placing a item each week, donor and little history in the Lakes Shopper. Friday night we went to the Okoboji Yacht Club Friday nite social We encounted many friends there and had wonderful conversations catching up. Many new young people have joined and will make the Yacht Club future. Our family from White Bear Lake, MN will be here on Sunday and the 15 year old twins will stay for at least a week. They will keep me busy so probably won't get to ad to the blog. |
