Information is only as good as its sourcePosted Monday, May 4, 2009, at 11:59 AM
I was born in 1980, son of Herman & Paula Richter. Herman and his two brothers started The Three Sons in 1960 with his brothers Emil & Jimmy. Jimmy passed away in 1969 from complications of diabetes. Paula grew up on a farm east of Estherville IA. My sister Mia is running a physical fitness studio in Iowa City and My brother Mark is attending Iowa Lakes Community College studying Graphic Design. I attended school at Okoboji High School and graduated in 1998.
"Never let school interfere with your education." - H. Richter
This was one of my dad's favorite sayings and I lived it to the fullest while growing up. I did learn a lot from my classroom education, but there were thousands of other educational tools I took advantage of growing up.
A lifelong Hawkeye fan, I attended school at Iowa State in Ames and became a Cyclone, mainly because their Textiles & Clothing dept. was one of the best in the nation. I was a basketball manager for Larry Eustachy for 5 years. I do believe I learned more in my time in the basketball office than what I learned in the class room at ISU.
In the spring of 2003 I returned to work at The Three Sons for the summer with every intention of getting a corporate job that fall. Here it is spring of 2009 and I am still working at The Three Sons. |
