Working out on an empty stomach...WRONG IDEA!Posted Monday, June 1, 2009, at 12:13 PM
Here are 5 top foods I personally recommend:
1- Salmon A great source of protein, iron, vitamin B12 and omega 3 fatty acids. No wonder why many athletes consume salmon as a recovery meal.
2- Oatmeal It's a good source of B vitamins and contains soluble fiber to help soak up unwanted fat and cholesterol in the bloodstream. Oatmeal also contains your good carbohydrates -- the energy source for any athlete.
3- Yogurt Rich in vitamin B-12 and calcium, which helps athletes prevent fatigue. Great meal or snack before and after your workout. 4- Sweet Potatoes An underrated vegetable. It contains the most antioxidant beta carotene than any other fruit or vegetable! It is also a great source of vitamin C, E, and iron. It is one of my favorite choices for dinner. 5- Blueberries A great antioxidant, which helps reduce oxidative damage to cells resulting from a strenuous activity. It is also a great source of vitamin C to help your immune system and energy-enhancing carbohydrates and fiber. Try it in the morning with your cereal! Provide your body regularly with the foods I provided you and other healthy foods to provide finest fuel for your workouts and see the biggest rewards. Have a awesome week !!! |
