Are kettlebells better than dumbbells?Posted Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at 12:07 PM
They are both tools that you may use to get in top condition. Let me put it to you this way...If you hired someone to build you a shed and he showed up with nothing but a saw, what would you think? No other tools...just a saw. I bet you would begin to wonder, "How is he going to build a strong shed with just ONE tool?!" To correctly train someone "one tool" cannot do the job. If you want your athlete or client to condition properly, you're going to have to use more than one tool in your tool belt. The best way to train for total body development is the use of kettlebells and dumbbells, because each apparatus contains a movement that you cannot do with the other. There are kettlebell exercises that you cannot do with dumbbells and vice versa. For example, it is not easy to train for speed movements with kettlebells like you would with dumbdells. You just cannot do five kettlebell snatches in less than six seconds like you can do with dumbbell snatches. The bottom line is each apparatus has its place and both are really great equipment that will help you get in the conditioning you are gearing for! Have a great week! |
