Family

My family is a pretty big part of my life. I have 2 younger sisters and was told growing up that I needed to set a good example for them. I did. The only thing they learned from the example I set was that they should have more fun. They did. It didn't affect them adversely because they are now both semi-functioning adults in society. The middle child lives in Kansas City and enjoys wine and audio books. She's single and does not own any cats. I believe she's a catch! The baby, who may or may not have been in Playboy, lives in Davenport and used to enjoy watching people fall and laughing at them. Now she enjoys outdoorsy activities like hiking and biking and such. I think it's because the new guy. She's now dating a very funny fellow. He asked me to describe him as (let me refer to my text message from him so I get this right) a Leo DiCaprio look alike. Personally, I think he looks more like an Oompa Loompa without the orange skin tone. His skin tone is pasty like an Okoboji tourist Memorial Day weekend. Actually, the first time I got to meet him was this most recent Memorial Day weekend right here in Okoboji. He introduced himself and then offered to refill my drink. We've been best friends ever since! I think he may have been a bartender with a step stool in a previous life and because of that, he's a keeper!

My parents are very normal. They are in their lower 50's but don't look a day over 39! In the past couple of years they've gotten into the whole "Harley Craze." They have VERY flexible schedules so now they take bike trips all over the USA. When they are not decked out in leather chaps enjoying the open air flying over their helmets they enjoy life in small town Iowa. My mom's favorite day is "Kay Day." It has replaced Monday on her calendar. She settles in to a restaurant that caters to her every whim for about 3 hours and all of her friends join her during their lunch breaks. Lunch revolves around her. If you haven't guessed it yet, her name is Kay. I hope to be just like my mom some day but unfortunately I can't take that much time off during lunch... yet!

These are the people I spend my holidays with. Since my sisters and I became old enough to legally enjoy alcohol, holidays have gotten much more colorful. So colorful the middle child once told a cousin that she predicted she would sleep her way to the top some day. That didn't go over well and grandma had to step in before someone lost handfuls of hair. We now sell tickets to holidays so others can enjoy our family!

I actually recall another holiday spent consuming alcoholic beverages where tickets should have been sold...but no cousins were involved. No one lost any hair either though.
